Whitebead is located two miles west of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, serving our rural community of 1500 people. Established in 1917, we are known in Oklahoma as a Dependent School District because we are a single site Pre-K through 8th grade school that is dependent on other school districts to complete our students' education (through high school). A unique characteristic of our district is that forty-three percent (43%) of our 400 students transfer in from other schools. We offer a comprehensive curriculum and meet the diverse needs of our students through a comprehensive system of needs analysis that involves students, parents, and staff. We use a blended services model, which promotes classroom community, to ensure the needs of our diverse students, parents, and staff. Offerings include small classes, looping in the first through sixth grades, multi-age classes in preschool through fourth grade, nine sports teams (72% participating), award winning visual and performing arts programs (68% participation in fifth through eighth grade), athletic and academic booster clubs, Spanish, French, student governing, school service organizations, four academic teams (21% participation in fifth through eighth grade), service learning projects, School-To-Work Program, and a bilingual newsletter all of which are important aspects of life at Whitebead School. 
The success of our school is due in large part to a dedicated and caring staff, teachers committed to life-long learning (forty-seven percent of our teaching staff have advanced degrees), and students who are excited to learn. We are all very proud of the fact that Whitebead is a nationally recognized Safe and Drug Free School, Distinguished Title I School, and Blue Ribbon School.
